The vagina continues to be one filled with surprises!
So, first of all, in case, you’re unaware and wondering how to make this yoghurt, I have that answer for you. The produced the yoghurt by the bacterial fermentation of milk; (lactose in milk to lactic acid) which then thickens and creates a tangy flavour thus creating Yoghurt.
But Vagina yoghurt is the topic today so let’s get into Vagina Yoghurt! A PHD student, Cecilia Westbrook, wanted to make her own yoghurt, Just like Jamie Oliver but with a wee twist(Pun intended); she would make it using the bacteria from her very own vagina… Sounds tasty?!
According to her friend, Cecilia thought it would be a great idea, as it was all natural. She then, wrote about the experiment for Vice, explaining:
“She knew enough about the chemistry of the vagina to think that eating a batch of yogurt made from her lady-juices would be good for her.”
Jay said that the ‘collection method’ was done with a wooden spoon. “She set up a positive control (made with actual yogurt as the starter culture) and a negative control (plain milk with nothing added), and combined her own home-made ingredient to the third batch of yogurt.
“Left overnight, the magic of biology created a respectably-sized bowl. “Her first batch of yogurt tasted sour, tangy, and almost tingly on the tongue. She compared it to Indian yogurt, and ate it with some blueberries.”
“It’s a bad idea in general,” Forney said, adding that it was at least a good thing that Westbook used bacteria from her own vagina.
“I like what she’s doing in principle. But it’s risky because she doesn’t know what else she’s doing and she could end up with a bad batch.”
While, the US Food Drug and Administration have taken a similar stance. They said: “Vaginal secretions are not ‘food’, and they may transmit human disease.”
I mean I’m not jumping on board to try this, but I’ve heard of worse dishes in my time.
